Welcome to the 6th addition of the 12 Drams! We are extremely tardy this year. Our deepest apologies. Thankfully, we are not late to the newest distillery on Islay – Ardnahoe. Sandwiched between Caol Ila and Bunnahabhain, and owned by Scotch family legends Hunter Laing, this is Ardnahoe’s first ever release after firing up the stills in 2018. Bottled at 50%, this 5-year-aged expression is receiving a warm welcome from the whisky community. Hopefully a harbinger of future excellence!
Tasting Notes
By The Master of Malt
Nose
Bonfires, smoked meat, bacon, toffee, and baked apple. A little water brings out lemon zest.
Palate
Peppery, orange citrus, smoky but overpoweringly balanced by a toffee sweetness. Dilution brings out a distinctive lemon note.
Finish
Clean and refreshing, with a sea breeze quality.
