Bourbon is tricky. On one hand, it’s infinitely more accessible than whisky. On the other, John and JM don’t know anything about it. However, when we speak to those well-versed in bourbon, one name comes up consistently: E.H. Taylor. Described as the founding father of the bourbon industry, Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. purchased the Old Fashioned Copper Distillery after the American Civil War. That distillery morphed into modern-day behemoth Buffalo Trace which now honours EH with the corn-heavy #1 Mash bill (same as 12 Drams fav Eagle Rare) aged in the same warehouses he built centuries ago.
