Whisky #8
12 Year Old 2012 Single Cask Oloroso Puncheon
GlenAllachie

Scotland (Speyside) ~ 58.3% ~ $200

Given the relative difficulty of procuring whisky in BC, it can be tough to avoid repeating distilleries after 5 years and 60 whiskies. This gem from GlenAllachie is about as close as we’ve gotten. GlenAllachie is a key component of MacNair’s blended whisky, and both are overseen by living legend Billy Walker. Famous for his innovative cask management, we were thrilled to see this cask strength, single barrel offering. Having spent its entire twelve-year maturation in a dashingly squat oloroso barrel known as a puncheon, this expression is the Platonic ideal of a sherry bomb.
