Between “car chase” and “gorgeous” we find the Scottish Gaelic word for friendship: Càirdeas (car-dchuss). A lovely sentiment for this group, if a little saccharine. Every year, Laphroaig produces a unique Càirdeas release for the annual Fèis Ìle festival that takes place on Islay. And by unique we mean every year it gets a total overhaul. This year’s looks delicious, with that trademark Laphroaig peat being rounded with a two-stage finish in port and wine casks. Enjoy in the name of càirdeas.
Tasting Notes
Our 2020 annual release of Laphroaig Càirdeas, Port & Wine Casks, continues our long history of innovation. A unique marriage of our classic Laphroaig whisky rested in second-fill Ruby Port ‘barriques’ along with whisky double matured in ex-Bourbon barrels followed by ex-red wine casks. Soft, round and warming, it’s an incredible ‘friendship’ that charts continents, styles and flavours.
