Whisky #12
Dair Ghaelach Bluebell Forest - Tree 2
Midleton

Ireland ~ 52.6% ~ $400 ~

Meaning “Irish Oak” in Gaelic, these Dair Ghaelach expressions are about as rare as they come. The story reads like a fairy tale, with six trees being felled from a forest carpeted in luminescent bluebells that surrounds a castle. After being processed in Spain, 29 casks, each made from one unique tree, were brought back home and filled with the exquisite single pot still spirit that Midleton is famous for. Following a patient 19 months on the virgin Irish oak, the now 14- to 25-year-old whisky was bottled at cask strength. Rumour has it that each tree imparts a discernible flavour, so we hope you enjoy Tree 2 and wish you the good fortune to one day compare it to another tree from the Bluebell Forest.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Pot still spices are accentuated by the Irish oak contribution, adding waves of toasted wood with hints of vanilla and roasted coffee, layered over fresh fruit which evolves from orchard fruits to tropical notes.

Palate

A luscious texture at the fore, while the influence of the Irish oak adds earthiness.
