Whisky #7
US*1 Single Barrel Straight Rye
Michter's

United States ~ 42.4% ~ $110 ~

Rye can be polarizing, and is a bit of cliché here in Canada, but we think we’ve found a good starting point with Michter’s single barrel straight rye. This expression is distilled under contract at an unnamed Kentucky distillery with at least 51% rye in the grain bill. Drawing from just one barrel is a risky move as it creates variation from batch to batch. Without knowing exactly what this bottles tastes like, we are confident you’ll enjoy this spicy trip south of the border.

Tasting Notes
By The Master of Malt

A straight rye whiskey from the Michter's Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. Every bottle of their excellent rye comes from a single barrel, highlighting the quality of their craft. A top choice for cocktails - we're particularly interested in making a Sazerac with some of this!

Nose

Werther's Original, dry wood, plenty of spicy rye notes, a hint of blackcurrant.

Palate

Dried orange peel and stem ginger, followed by brown sugar, cherry, hickory, cumin and buttered corn.

Finish

New leather, caramel, cinnamon, peppercorn, apple.
